I love learning new things. With languages you never stop learning as there will always be a new word to add to your list of vocabulary. I have always been interested in the French culture and its language as I used to go on family holidays to France every year. My French tutors are fantastic at helping me and directing me in the right way so I can improve my work. In particular, Professor Nathalie Aubert has been an absolutely wonderful tutor. Every class with her is really interactive which helps improve our French oral skills.

Drama and History have always been my favourite two subjects, so finding out that I could carry them both to degree level at Brookes was a pleasant surprise. Meeting the staff on at Open Day and getting a taster of their teaching style was what made up my mind.

The Drama Course offers a wonderful mixture of theoretical and practical approaches to the subject. I like approaching theatre in various different ways theoretically while not losing focus on the performance aspect of theatre – the course here lets me do that. Brookes has helped me to think about aspects of theatre I did not pay a lot of attention to before and teaches me how to think in an analytical and ‘theatrical’ way.

The thing that attracted me to the Brookes course in particular was the wide syllabus – it was more than just Shakespeare! Don’t get me wrong, there isn’t anything wrong with Shakespeare, but there is a wide variety of playwrights to study and I like that the Brookes course has such a good selection.
