Modern Languages

  • Mexican Day of the Dead, Monday 5 November 2012, Oxford Brookes University
    Sixty pupils from six Oxfordshire Secondary Schools celebrated the Mexican Day of the Dead. The event was part of the Routes into Languages South initiative which aims to promote the importance of languages and widen take-up amongst 14-19 year olds and university students in England.
  • Mexican Day of the Dead, Monday 31 October 2011, Oxford Brookes University
    Staff from Department of English and Modern Languages hosted the Mexican Day of the Dead event for 70 Year 10/11 pupils from 7 local Oxfordshire schools. The day was part of the SCULA: Routes into Languages initiative which aims to promote the importance of languages and to widen take-up amongst 14–19 year olds and university students in England.

  • Museums Without Walls with Jonathan Meades
    In a session at the Oxford Literary Festival, jointly hosted by the Department of English and Modern Languages and the School of Architecture, Jonathan Meades read from his work and talked about his varied and prolific writing life.
  • Our Words Creative Writing Project
    This session featured a group of 12 Oxford Academy students from years 7 and 8, who read from the writing they have created collaboratively under the direction and tuition of four Oxford Brookes University students on the MA Creative Writing programme, across the first months of 2013.
